The conference is being held on the University of Southampton’s Highfield Campus (this is the main campus). It is about 2 miles / 35 mins walk north of the city centre.
You can fly directly to Southampton which is on the South Coast of England situated between Brighton and Bournemouth, close to the New Forest and the Isle of Wight. Ferries from France and Spain arrive in Portsmouth which is just a twenty minute drive from the city.
Southampton is an international port in its own right, with a wealth of history evidence of which which survives in its medieval old town. It is in easy travelling distance of many other historic locations including Stonehenge, the ancient cathedral town of Winchester and of course the UK’s capital city of London.
By Train
From London to Southampton: There are approximately three direct trains every hour from London Waterloo Station to Southampton Airport Parkway with the journey time taking just over 1 hour. For train timetables and fares visit: www.thetrainline.com.
Connecting buses run directly every 15 minutes to the University, of you can queue for a taxi from the rank (cross platform to reach main booking office, the taxi rank is immediately outside).
If your train first stops at Southampton Central you can take a direct connecting Unilink bus to the University (U1A) which leaves every 15 minutes from the south side of the Station.
Flying to the UK
If flying in to the UK we would recommend that Southampton, Heathrow or Gatwick are best options for ease of travel.
Southampton Airport: Southampton airport has 13 airlines/tour operators serving around 48 destinations. From the airport there is a direct bus service U1C that leaves the airport and goes directly to the University Bus Interchange. Airport taxis must be pre-booked or booked at the desk on arrival, or you can walk across to the station and queue at the public taxi rank.
Heathrow Airport: If flying in to Heathrow airport, and you wish to take public transport to Southampton we would recommend that the coach is the fastest route. Gatwick Airport: If flying in to Gatwick Airport, you can choose between a train (www.thetrainline.com direct, of via Clapham Junction) or a coach.

By Ferry

From London or the North – M3, exit at J14 on to the A33 to Southampton.
From the West – M27, exit at J3 on to the M271 to Southampton
From the East – M27, exit at J8 on to the A3024 to Southampton
